Toshikoshi Soba by Laurel Rogers

$250.00

I was fascinated with the Japanese ritual of eating soba noodles for the New Year. This celebrates and transitions the old year into the new, long and healthy life (long thin noodles), and stability and prosperity(from the strong buckwheat plant). The noodles are easy to cut which symbolizes severing any misfortunes from the year before. My drawn line is literally a long noodle or illustrates flowing forward into the New Year ahead. I picked my eco-print papers for the cards because I loved the colors and the idea of taking care of our plants and botanicals in the year ahead.
