This dos-a-dos pamphlet stitch binding combines The Road Home (After Natasha Tretheway), by Lynette Carpenter, with a companion piece, The Home Road, by Jeff Nilan. Both story and image sequence are meditations on family and place, as they are contained and constructed by memory they are bound together, both separated and connected.
Artist Bio
Jeff Nilan received his MFA from Indiana University where he also taught for a number of years. His work has been shown throughout the United States and is in multiple Artists' book collections. Growing up in Nebraska, his art draws influence from his roots and upbringing, as well as the landscape and culture of the Midwest. Jeff is interested in the ways that art reflects and shapes the mythology of a region. Jeff currently resides in Delaware, Ohio and is Associate Professor of Photography at Ohio Wesleyan University.
