The 5th Night by Linda Welch -SOLD!

I like to walk through construction sites, after workers leave. A rich composition of textures, colors, materials and patterns are present. There is an abundance of raw materials laying about. In particular, when stacks of lumber arrive, they are bound with strapping tape and under this tape is a piece of pressboard. To me, they have always looked like book pages; worn, often wet, and pressed at a 90 degree angle. I collect these, as they are refuse. These are the foundation for the pages in this book. This construction site is presented as metaphor for this book. Many conversations are taking place in these pages and at this site. It may be a point of contention, excitement, or of no real concern to anyone. There is destruction, yet there lies potential. Layers of voices and materials make up the final composition. Re-ordering of raw materials to create a new conversation. I see this process reflected in life.
