A set of five paper blocks in the shapes of vowels, each one featuring a unique handmade paper. Housed in a cherry wood box, with a glass top that slides on and off. The blocks, which can be lined up, stacked or scattered, create a visual and tactile play on letters and language.
Artist Bio
Helen Hiebert is a Portland, Oregon artist who constructs installations, sculptures, films and artist books using handmade paper as her primary medium. She teaches and lectures about papermaking and lamp-making internationally, and serves as an adjunct faculty member at Oregon College of Art & Craft. Helen exhibits her work internationally, she is author of the books Papermaking with Plants, The Papermaker's Companion, and Paper Illuminated She is the vice president of the International Association of Hand Papermakers and Paper Artists and a regular contributor to Hand Papermaking Newsletter. Her next book, Playing with Paper, will be published by Rockport Publishers in January 2013.
