The collage pages come, in part, from a book titled, Fundamentals of Spelling, a teacher's guide from 1928. While reading through the book, I revisited my own learning experience. This book is a visual application of the layers that build up through the schooling process.
Artist Bio
Linda Welch is a painter, sculptor and book artist living in Ames, Iowa following a recent stint in Portland, Oregon. She grew up in Iowa and lived for many years in California. She received a B.F.A. in Ceramics from Long Beach State and an M.F.A. in Textile Design from UC Davis. Her work is in private and public collections including UCLA Fine Art Library and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
