Me Ching by Cathryn Miller
Given the high-speed world in which we live, the I Ching – that ancient tool of divination and decision-making – no longer seems appropriate. This pamphlet introduces a modern alternative. Beginning with an introduction to the history of the I Ching, then covering the traditional methodology and interpretation, the twelve-page booklet concludes with one page of simple instructions for the use of the ME Ching to aid in decision-making. A Chinese Lucky Coin for use in the process is included in a special pocket.
Humans have long searched for aids in finding the "right" answer when faced with choices, and many predictive rituals have been developed over the centuries. This book is one of my works dealing with rituals of prediction and decision-making, part of my ongoing examination of human perception of time.
Artist Bio
Cathryn Miller has been playing with paper intermittently since childhood. After post-secondary education in both Fine Art and Commercial Art, she was side-tracked into weaving for twenty years. Her award-winning fibre works are in provincial, national, and international collections. Miller returned to playing with paper in the mid-1990s, founding Byopia Press with her husband David. Works from Byopia Press have won awards; been shown in over one hundred exhibitions —local, national, and international; and are held in more than sixty public collections as well as private collections worldwide.
