Over the course of my life, I've spent a fair amount of time chipping away at a personal philosophy. Of course, there's nothing extraordinary in this. Trying to make sense of the world seems to be a crucial part of the human experience; something that each of us accomplishes in our own way. My personal process for making sense of things includes writing and illustrating artist's books on various philosophical themes. In Mapping the Known World, I reflect on conditions that strongly influence how I think about, and therefore experience, my world. Mapping the Known World is whimsical in its use of bright color and naively rendered figures. This style of illustration and the concise, easy to understand text invite readers to approach my philosophically oriented themes with a light-hearted openness. In my experience, I've found that it is just such an attitude that best inspires personal growth.
