This unique artist book is a posthumous collaboration with the late book artist, Paula Hocks (1916-2003), following our 24-year friendship founded on a shared passion for books. As Paula’s executrix, the text I created is a collage of Hocks’ poems and writings about arrivals and departures, travel and a sense of place, selected from several of her editions originally printed in small Xerox-copied editions. My paste paper decorated pages, pastel drawing, and additional collaged imagery further illustrate the content. As a trained hand binder, I sewed and hand bound the text in a full goatskin leather case binding with original onlay leather and tooled design.
