Abandoned structures can be found beside many back roads of America. These mills, factories, foundries, and plants are no longer running. Rust and silence are all they produce. Workers are now gone, along with a way of life. This book began as a series of photos of an abandoned glass factory in Vineland, New Jersey.
Artist Bio
R D Burton has been a book artist since the mid-90's. Born and raised in Kansas, he received an MA in Studio Arts from Rutgers University, studied at the University for the Arts in Philadelphia, and has taken workshops at the Center for the Book in New York. He has exhibited his books nationwide and his work is in collections in the US and overseas, including Carnegie Mellon University, MassArt, University of California, Berkeley, and Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar. R D lives and maintains his studio in Havre de Grace MD.
