A one-of-a-kind painted book by Portland artist Linda Welch. Her abstract, layered, mixed media books incorporate oil painting, collage, screen printing, found book pages and wax.
Linda tells us: “I often begin a book with a visual idea, gather raw materials and let the story unfold. By the time the pages are completed, the cover and ultimately the title of the book present themselves. Here, I was listening to many stories; the many voices for a select story. Stories we hear appear so complete, yet are often quite fragmentary. A scrap of book text appeared on top of a pile of papers on my work table as if to announce itself as the title for the experience of this book."
