"A visual flipbook of text, color and pattern," this one-of-a-kind painted book is by Linda Welch. Her abstract, layered, mixed media books incorporate oil painting, collage, screen printing, found book pages and wax.
Linda tells us: “My artist books emanate from a true love of books. The tangible and visual experience of opening a book is a constant source of desire. Each book is created as a unique. A series may unfold, but within are individual pieces. Primarily focused on visual texture, color and composition, threads of storyline appear in unexpected ways. The books are quite tactile and are meant to be experienced. The new series of books is a response to the constant bombardment of fractured images and emotions of the past that seem to be interrupting present thought on a daily basis. The employment of collage mimics this random fusion of visions. By restructuring the fragments a new story is created.”
