My first thought was," what in my life do I consider Ritual". Everyday I perform the exact same ritual in preparing, serving and drinking my coffee. I chose a book form that would present visually the idea of that daily ritual. And when the accordion is open it has the appearance of an alter or temple. The color choices are warm browns and oranges, coffee black or with milk.
Artist Bio
Mimi Calise Peterson was born in New York, New York in 1945. Has lived in Connecticut, Pennsylvania and since 2014 in Silver City, New Mexico. She attended Philadelphia College of Art 1980 thru 1984 earning a BFA in painting. Her work has been exhibited in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Harbour Island, Bahamas, British Columbia, Colorado, Washington State and New Mexico. Most of her work is in Private Collections plus Baylor Special Collections Library and Western New Mexico University McCray Gallery permanent collections.
