These pages have been on a journey since 1826. After 188 years, they still speak, albeit in an altered format. This is a chapter from a book about the philosophy of Plato. A one-of-a-kind altered book by Linda Welch, who tells us: “My artist books emanate from a true love of books. The tangible and visual experience of opening a book is a constant source of desire. Each book is created as a unique. A series may unfold, but within are individual pieces. Primarily focused on visual texture, color and composition, threads of storyline appear in unexpected ways. The books are quite tactile and are meant to be experienced. The new series of books is a response to the constant bombardment of fractured images and emotions of the past that seem to be interrupting present thought on a daily basis. The employment of collage mimics this random fusion of visions. By restructuring the fragments a new story is created.”
