The number of new cancer cases discovered on a daily basis is staggering, and continues to grow exponentially. This statement, in and of itself, is disconcerting enough, but what seems to be more alarming is the fact that the medical and scientific fields can neither solve nor distinguish what the root cause may be. In 101 Causes, I proceed to question whether the environment in which we live, is a contributing factor for this ongoing diagnosis.

Artist Bio

Rocco Scary is an artist and paper maker whose work explores the concept of 'place' as reservoir for memory. Currently based in North Caldwell, NJ, USA, his Artist Books have been represented in such venues as The Center for Book Arts, The Nathan Cummings Foundation and The Grolier Club in New York City, Columbia College Center for Book and Paper Arts in Chicago, Rutgers University Book Arts Symposium and The Newark Library in NJ, University of California in San Diego, The Elipse Arts Center in Virginia, and The Yale University Library in New Haven CT. He is a recipient of a NJ State Arts Council Fellowship Grant and holds a BFA from Montclair State University and an MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts.
