Linda Welch • Showing in the Gallery Through April 25Linda Welch has found her way to Portland (by way of California) and now to 23 Sandy Gallery! Her art encompasses a broad range of techniques utilizing paper, textiles, paint, and even concrete. Common to the use of these mediums are her many sources of inspiration—“history, rituals, words, beauty, imperfections, and the nuances of nature. ” According to Linda, the process of “gathering raw material is as significant as the manipulation in determining a final composition.

You may have heard of this terrific group as it presents an eponymous biennial photography review festival in Portland as well as the very popular annual Critical Mass. Each year Photolucida publishes monographs of the top two or three winners of the Critical Mass competition.
