Sad to See One Go / Excited to See Another
This weekend marks your last chance to see Poignant to Playful, our exhibition of movable and pop-up artist books. Better hurry before it closes on Saturday! This one has been a delight to have in the gallery. Thank you to all of the remarkably talented artists who created these playful and poignant pop-ups. (Insiders secret: if you missed seeing this show in person, ask next time you visit the gallery. Most of the Poignant to Playful works will stay in gallery inventory.)
But, as fun as this show has been, the next show is even more exciting. As you know, 23 Sandy hosts two big, national juried exhibitions each year and our next one opens a week from tomorrow, Friday, November 15, 2013.
EcoEditions came to life when Cara List, the Art and Art History Librarian at the University of Oregon Architecture and Allied Arts Library, just happened to mention in passing how much fun she had jurying our 2008 Maternal Legends exhibition. Cara also mentioned that she would love to do an exhibition about environmental issues someday. Well, that someday is here and today we are busy unpacking boxes from 39 artists from across the United States and from as far away as Australia, China, Canada and the United Kingdom. It's like Christmas getting the first look at these incredible books!
EcoEditions will be on view in the gallery November 15th through December 28th. If you can't make it to see it in person you can always dream via the full-color print catalog that just arrived fresh from the printer today. Order your copy here.
Mark your calendar for an artists reception for EcoEditions on Saturday, December 7, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Several artists will be in attendance, including Fiona Dempster, who will be here all the way from Australia!
See you soon,
Laura
