Congratulations Book Power Redux Artists
Thank you to each and every artist who submitted work to Book Power Redux, our next upcoming juried exhibition May 30 - July 26, 2014. The gallery's very first traveling exhibition, Book Power Redux will move the the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma Washington in mid-August.
Jane Carlin, the library director at UPS and Olympia-based artist and curator MalPina Chan and I had the duties of scoring each of the 201 books that were submitted to the show. Wow! What a task. There were so many terrific submissions that we could have easily created several distinct shows. The works that resonated seemed to focus on contemporary social issues, which will compliment the Race and Pedagogy conference that will be held at UPS in September.
A full print and online catalog for Book Power Redux will be available in late May. In the meantime, congratulations to the following artists whose work was accepted into the show:
