Celebrating William Stafford's Birthday

Around the world poetry fans celebrate the birthday of William Stafford with readings and other events. To mark the occasion check out the 23 Sandy Gallery "Curated Collection" of artist books and broadsides that feature the poetry of this beloved wordsmith. The collection also includes work by his son Kim, a just-as-well-known figure in the world of words.

In the Portland area there are several poetry readings and other events to celebrate poet William Stafford’s birthday.

One of my favorite lines from William Stafford reads, "If you stay balanced, successive things you say can have an exquisite shimmer, a promise that stays alive like a harmony in music."
