The Taj Mahal, referred to in guidebooks as the “Temple of Love,” was built by the Mogul ruler Shah Jahan as a mausoleum for his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal, who died in childbirth in 1631, at the age of 38. She had given the emperor 14 children in 18 years of marriage.

Artist Biography
Joanna Thomas has achieved signature status in the National Collage Society and the National Association of Women Artists. She is a founding member of PUNCH Gallery, established in 2006 in the Pioneer Square district of Seattle. She maintains a studio in Ellensburg, WA, where she resides with her dog Archie. She has seen the Taj Mahal.
