I Observe These Sacred Rites is an existential celebration of the amazing set of thought processes, which make human consciousness possible. This book uses the observance of sacred rites as a metaphor to explore the idea that, just as God, each of us experiences self-awareness within a world, which is created by our own minds. I Observe These Sacred Rites is presented as a series of short, illustrated poems concerning abilities that allow us to perceive, interpret, understand and respond to the World.
This book features colorful paintings of people, animals and objects, which are juxtaposed with large diagrams and hand written text. Change Notation, a system I have developed for diagramming experiences, is also featured. An appendix outlining the basics of Change Notation is also included at the end of the book.
