The images and characters in my recent work are alone together. Even though there may find themselves in herds or couples, the individuals are isolated and trying to connect. The separations seem weak and transparent, and I chose to work with the Turkish Map Fold structure to further demonstrate separations between pages and individuals. What has always struck me about Hedi’s books is the way she combines simple, considered images with dynamic structures that assist and compliment the narrative. Her use of materials supports this concept.
