Vengeance is Mine is part of the series, "body + soul", which began with photographs of twin performance artists, Emily and Abigail Taylor. I was haunted by a newspaper report of a mother who had drowned her children and another story of a mother who encouraged her son to be a suicide bomber. I wrote the text, "conceived in deception, precious cargo, stalked by hate, sacrificed to a vengeful god," to reference those children sacrificed to their parent's addictions to substances, politics or religion.
