Description
The original version of Muscle Cars, Rat Rods and American Girls was a one-of-a-kind altered book. That book was created from a vintage 1968 Chrysler Motors car sales brochure, collaged with reproduced images of pin-up girls from 1940-50’s girlie magazines such as Beauty Parade, Wink, Eyeful, Titter and Flirt. The text is a series of 32 existential questions (some whimsical, all serious) posed by the artist and her cheesecake ladies: “Are you defined by the things you want, or the things you need?” These copies are part of a commercially-printed unnumbered limited edition of 30, each housed in a yellow vellum envelope. Tucked into each limited edition copy is a vintage automobile postcard collaged by the artist in her “Rat Rods” cheesecake style. Each postcard is unique and is signed and dated by the artist.
