In 2011, I created an altered book called “Geology” by altering a vintage nature book entitled “Hammond’s Nature Atlas of America.” “Geology” featured collage work, paper-cutting, brass fixtures, a quote about destiny and geologic forces, and a 3D paper diorama set into a hand-carved niche. I never liked it very much and never exhibited it. Six years later, I tore out the diorama, ripped out and/or papered over the existing pages, and installed some moss. Now it is “A Book of Mosses.” I like it better, but we’ll see…..
