23 Sandy Gallery is pleased to announce our WANDERLUST award winners. This compelling exhibition in on view in the gallery through the end of July, so stop by soon to see the show if you happen to be in Portland.
Wanderlust is a word that can mean many things, but first and foremost it conjures travel, exploration and place. This international exhibition features 56 books by 54 artists including artists from as far away as Mexico, Spain, Norway, Germany, Canada and the UK—all telling stories of near and far. Most of the selected works revolve around a strong sense of place. More than just travelogues we found deep explorations and personal transformations across destinations.
LIBRARIAN’S CHOICE AWARDS
As you may know, 23 Sandy is very grateful for a faithful list of libraries and museums that purchase books from our juried shows. Their support over the last nine years has meant a lot not only to the survival of the gallery, but it also means a lot to the artist who are able to continue producing such engaging works of art. For the Librarian’s Choice Awards our librarian and curator friends voted for their top three favorite books in the show. One of the winning librarian’s has won a $500 Wanderlust purchase prize, with the proceeds going directly to artists they decide to purchase. The top librarian-selected works were:

These awards were selected to honor superior concept, craftsmanship and originality. All three works are well rounded, perfectly executed artist books.
