I made this book after recalling a powerful dream about an owl following the path of the power lines. I shared it with my dream group and wrote a poem in the form of a pantoum which became the text of this book. I used homemade calligraphic inks from walnut and copper to design the central image. The cover is made from handmade papers including cotton rag from old sheets. I feel comfort from this dream and making this edition of books is a way of honoring the gift of this dream.
Artist Bio
Marama Warren is a writer, artist and teacher who lives on the south coast of New South Wales, Australia. She began making artist books in the 1980s after being inspired by a dream. Dreams continue to inform and inspire her work. Over seventy of her artist’s books are in the Rare Books and Pacific collections at the Alexander Turnbull Library in New Zealand and others are in collections in Australia, Scotland and the USA. http://creativemarama.wordpress.com/
