I have chosen to pursue multiple dimensions of the book, first as a reader and teacher of literature, later as a book worker and box maker. I have most recently drawn these pursuits into artists’ books of my own composition and design, writing and/or editing, printing, and binding them in my own handwoven fabrics and marbled or paste papers. I am fond of exploring the processes of working collaboratively and in multiples. Book workers are likely to be box and portfolio makers, and so am I, making presentation boxes for unique books and manuscripts, as well as small decorated boxes for a variety of small treasures. I teach workshops and classes in the book arts at my home studio, Deer’s Run Bindery. My limited editions are issued by Deer's Run Press.
Artist Biography
Curt Dornberg is a book artist from Tucson, Arizona . Curt holds a Ph.D. from The University of Iowa. He is a founding member of PaperWorks: The Sonoran Collective of Paper and Book Artists. His work, from Deer’s Run Press, is in university and public libraries as well as private collections and is available on-line from Vamp and Tramp Booksellers (www.califiabooks.com ) and Truepenny Rare Books (www.truepennybooks.com ).
