Rent the Gallery for Workshops, Meetings or Lectures

23 Sandy Gallery is available to rent for workshops, lectures or meetings. Rental fees for art related events are $40 for an evening event (up to 4 hours) or $75 for a full day (up to 8 hours). Rental fees for parties or other events run higher and depend on the type of event and number of people. Please contact Laura for details.

The main gallery area can accommodate up to 25 people in a lecture set up with chairs only; or, 12 people fit comfortably with tables and chairs. Chairs and tables are provided and our kitchen with refrigerator, microwave and water cooler comes in handy for full-day events. Digital projector and pull-down screen also are available to rent for an additional fee. (Please note: the gallery is not available during regular gallery hours.) Contact Laura for more information.

About 23 Sandy Gallery

23 Sandy Gallery is a fine art gallery located just east of downtown, in Portland’s central east side arts district. We present local and national artists working in contemporary book arts, painting, photography and printmaking. The gallery also serves as a community gathering space with lectures, workshops, salons, readings and more.

The gallery is owned by Laura Russell, a book artist and photographer. You can read more about Laura and her own work at www.laurarussell.net.

gallery hours

Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Noon to 6:00 p.m. Also, we are open late on First Thursday and First Friday. We are happy to schedule an appointment if those hours don't work.

Portfolio submissions

23 Sandy Gallery is always reviewing portfolios for future solo shows. We consider all media and we have a strong preference for art with a strong narrative or story to tell.

Here’s how to have your work considered for a solo exhibition:

Send Laura an email with a link to a web gallery or album containing a show-ready (or in progress) body of work. Please do not send a link to your main web site with every piece of work you have ever done. We prefer to see a body of work that you think is ready for a gallery show. Also, please send a link to your resume and bio.
